Great Bedwyn is a quiet hamlet in East Wiltshire, England. It is situated between Hungerford and Marlborough and lies on the edge of Savernake Forest. I used to live nearby and I would drive through this landscape painting composition on almost a daily basis. And along the small single track road shown on the right too. You can see it meandering past more fields to the horizon and disappearing seemingly into the blue sky.
The scene is under one mile away from the village of Great Bedwyn. It is pronounced as Gurt Beddin by the locals. Not many people visit because it is hidden away in its quiet countryside and somewhat off the beaten track. Those that do visit might arrive by boat on the river Dun that flows adjacent to the village or by train - if not by tractor, car, bus, horse or on foot.
