Artist's Description
Cardigan Bay Blue Healing Sea was originally painted purposely as a gift to a friend suffering with a terminal illness. Blue is the spiritual colour for healing. The painting was made with ultramarine blue acrylic paint on a small panel. No mediums accept water were used and only one brush was employed.
This blue scene was painted near Poppit Sands in Ceredigion, West Wales. It is the beach near Cardigan town and close to St. Dogmaels. The sea is the Irish Sea and in this location it has particularly dangerous in-coming tides. It is quite easy to become cut off on the sands if you do not watch how quickly the tide comes in. And you do not plan a sensible escape route in advance.
As you can see in the painting the tide was rapidly encroaching on my place of painting. It was coming over the rocks between me on the beach and the sea. As an aside and as a point of interest, many of the rocks can clearly be seen for real as petrified trees although I have not detailed this...
