My painting of a Blue tractor ploughing a field near Lampeter in Ceredigion Wales was achieved spontaneously and in one sitting during a chilly Spring day. Acrylic paint on a small panel was used.
I had set out with my dog for his main daily walk and I took a sketch pad and pen with me plus a compact camera. I had no intention of painting a tractor working in a field but I saw that the blue tractor was being driven by a local farming friend so I stopped walking to watch him and after we had exchanged friendly hand waves.
The field looked as though it had been ploughed the day before as it had a windswept dusty crust on each top edge of the furrows. Seed drilling was now taking place as I stood and watched by the open gate.
I liked the picture that this farm vehicle was creating with volumes of flying dust and with seagulls visiting for a late lunch. The dust cloud partially obscured the trees in the background and the Cambrian mountain foothills beyond those....
