Artist's Description
Welsh Wildflowers are shown just in front of a gap in a hedge along the Maestir road; near the village of Cribyn and which is situated about 4 miles west of Lampeter, Ceredigion, Wales.
The foreground wild flowers within the painting are common in the welsh countryside and include white yarrow, pink campions, blue cornflowers and yellow buttercups.
Beyond the wide hole in the multi-coloured, yet mostly green, hedge is an interesting view of the Welsh countryside comprising stubble left over and after this wheat field’s second harvest of the year. This produced a golden yellow ochre affect although other related colours and tones can be seen too.
In the middle of this painting, a line of trees, in full green summer foliage, shrink into the left distance seemingly to meet the far distant Cambrian mountainous hill range. These are coloured as a washed out greyish blue. In reality they are several miles away.
