My Moel Famau Hill Painting was made with many layers of acrylic paint on stretched canvas. It was quite a tricky painting to do as the daylight kept changing rapidly and so did the natural colours.
The sky alternated between being relatively clear with a nice looking Cobalt blue to being quite overcast with predominately white clouds. But the clouds still allowed the daylight to penetrate them as I have tried to show. This natural brightness seemed to make the landscape below a few shades darker and slightly more prominent as a result.
The two conditions of light and dark seem to illustrate well within this Moel Famau Hill painting.
The hill itself involved painting many layers of different colours to obtain the darker colour you can see now. And each layer had to dry before the next one was applied.
The colours for the hill part of Moel Famau are less intense to depict distance than those in the middle and foreground area of this painting.
