Fine art painting inspired by nature
Painting buttercups in a field was not something I had set out to do specifically. It was an on the spur of the moment decision. All I had with me at the time were a basic selection of artist quality oil pastels, which were used on a previously prepared card. Fortunately, these were in my car at the time.
Initially, I thought I would just sketch the scene and finish it off later in my studio at home. But as I was laying in the colour I became engrossed with it and finished the painting in one go so as not to lose its spontaneity. I cannot say it was achieved in one sitting because I was standing up at the time and with the card taped to a drawing board.
